Does this count?
I’ve talked about reading challenges, but a common question I see
asked is ‘does this count?’ Meaning, an audiobook, comic book, a
re-read...etc. The simple answer, yes.
The guidelines for reading challenges are often defined by the
creator of the challenges. If no guidelines are posted, then they are
open to your interpretation.
Audiobooks have always counted to me. They are great for travelers
or commuters. Not everyone can sit down and enjoy reading a book, which
is why audiobooks are wonderful. I hate when I get a good part of the
book, and realize I have to now mow the lawn. Audiobook to the rescue!
Comic books or graphic novels count too. They have everything that a great story needs. It’s just in a different format.
Made yourself a goal of reading a certain number of books, but
found you don’t have time to read all those books because of school or
children? Guess what? Text books count! Do you read to children at
night? Guess what? Those count too!
Just because it might not be on The NY Times bestseller list, or be
considered a ‘classic.’ A book is a book. It counts. Don’t let
someone get you down for not reading the latest trending book. If you
took an hour of your day to ‘unplug’ or find some ‘me time’ with your
favorite graphic novel, it counts!
Happy Reading.
